How to Change a Battery in the MAZDA Key Fob

How to Open a MAZDA Key Fob

Learning how to open a Mazda6 key fob is the same process as a Mazda CX-5 key fob, so no matter your model, you can master this task with just a little practice. First, let’s find out how to open a Mazda key fob:

1. Push the auxiliary key button on the back of your key fob. Remove the metal auxiliary key.
2. Once you remove the key, you’ll see a slot on either side of the key case.
3. Use your screwdriver to open the case gently, prying open one side and then the other.
4. With the case open, you’re now ready to change the batteries.

How to Replace Your MAZDA Key Battery

Now that you’re ready to replace your batteries, make sure you have the proper CR2025 battery in hand. You can find replacement batteries around Sauk Rapids and Saint Joseph, as well as at our parts department. Here are the steps to learn how to change battery in mazda key fob:

1. Remove the battery cap and put it near the key fob for safe keeping.
2. Now that the battery is exposed, remove the old batteries. Be careful not to damage the rubber ring under the battery. If it is damaged, you’ll need to replace it as well.
3. Take your replacement battery and set it on top of the rubber ring. The positive (+) side will be facing up.
4. Put the battery cover back in place and reattach both sides of the key fob. You’ll hear a click when both halves are secured.
